Artist's Reece Walsh Tribute Wins NRL Star's Approval

An Australian artist has created a stunning tribute to Brisbane Broncos fullback Reece Walsh that has earned the ultimate seal of approval - from the NRL superstar himself.

Instagram Recognition for Talented Artist

Calum Hotham produced the remarkable canvas artwork dedicated to the premiership-winning footballer, who's enjoying a career-defining year in 2025. The talented painter shared his creation with his Instagram followers, explaining he'd been waiting for the perfect opportunity to capture Walsh's likeness.

'Been wanting to paint Reece for ages, finally had a chance with some wet weather around,' Hotham posted to his social media audience. The artist also mentioned the piece would be 'up for grabs' and invited interested parties to direct message him.

The response from Walsh himself was immediate and enthusiastic. The clearly impressed Broncos star responded to Hotham's tag by posting three fire emojis - the ultimate social media endorsement in today's digital age.

Walsh's Remarkable 2025 Season

The artwork comes during what has been an extraordinary period for the 23-year-old footballer. In recent months, Walsh has secured a premiership ring with Brisbane before representing the Kangaroos as they completed an Ashes series clean sweep in the United Kingdom.

Even fellow NRL star Nathan Cleary has expressed admiration for Walsh's rapid rise to prominence. The halfback didn't hold back in his praise for his international teammate.

'It's been an absolute pleasure to play alongside him,' Cleary stated. 'We've seen what he can do on the Origin stage, big games like Grand Finals, and now he's done it again on the Test stage.'

Pure X-Factor Talent

When asked if he could compare Walsh to any other player, Cleary was thoughtful in his response. 'Not that I've played alongside,' he mused. 'He just has pure X-factor, and when it feels like nothing's happening, he just can have his imprint on the game.'

Cleary emphasised the historical significance of Walsh's abilities, noting: 'Not many people can do what he does. Through history, I reckon. It's pretty special what he's doing.'

The Panthers star even acknowledged having been on the receiving end of Walsh's talent in the past. 'Sometimes, he's carved me up, so it was nice to have him on my side this time. There's not many players in the history of our game who can just break the game open like he does.'

Following his vintage 2025 season, Walsh is currently enjoying his off-season break. The superstar will return to the Broncos' Red Hill base in January as his team chases back-to-back NRL titles next year.
