Boxing Star Breaks Silence After Tragic Accident
Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has spoken publicly for the first time since being involved in a fatal car accident in Nigeria, revealing he is in pain "everywhere" across his body.
The 36-year-old British boxing icon was travelling along the busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Monday morning when the vehicle he was in, a Lexus Jeep, collided with a stationary truck.
Joshua sustained minor injuries in the collision and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Tragically, two other occupants of the vehicle did not survive the crash, as confirmed by Nigerian police.
Victims Identified as Key Team Members
The two men who lost their lives have been named as Kevin Ayodele and Sina Ghami. Both were described as close companions and integral parts of Joshua's professional team.
Kevin Ayodele served as Joshua's personal trainer, while Sina Ghami had worked as the boxer's strength and conditioning coach for over a decade, forming a long-term professional bond with the athlete.
Their deaths represent a profound personal and professional loss for Joshua, occurring far from the boxing ring where he has faced his most public challenges.
Joshua's Condition and Ongoing Investigation
While Joshua's physical injuries are described as minor, the emotional and psychological impact of the crash, which claimed the lives of two close friends, is expected to be significant.
The accident occurred on a major Nigerian highway known for its heavy traffic. An investigation into the precise circumstances of the collision is likely underway by local authorities.
This incident casts a shadow over the boxing world and Joshua's camp, as the athlete processes both his own physical pain and the devastating loss of key members of his support network.
