Plastic Bag Hack Defrosts Car Windscreen in Seconds, Goes Viral

A TikTok hack that defrosts a frozen windscreen in seconds has gone viral, amassing 28.9 million views. The method, shared by Belfast make-up artist @amysaavage, involves filling a plastic bag with warm water and dragging it over the windscreen.

The hack clears frost and mist without the risk of cracking the glass, a danger associated with using boiling water. Amy emphasised that the water must be warm, not hot, to avoid thermal shock.

Reactions on TikTok were mixed. Some users praised the hack as a free alternative to de-icer, with one commenting, 'People in the comments like just buy de-icer, like this works just as well and that's an extra $4 they saved.' Others recommended using de-icer or placing a blanket or cardboard over the windscreen overnight.
