The upscale Los Angeles grocery chain Erewhon has quietly removed Hailey Bieber's name from their collaborative smoothie that had become a cult favourite among wellness enthusiasts. The sudden change has sparked speculation about the nature of the separation between the model and the luxury supermarket.
The Disappearing Act
The Hailey Bieber Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie mysteriously lost its famous namesake after years of successful sales at the premium grocery store. The £16 beverage, which first appeared in 2022 as a limited-time offering, had earned a permanent spot on the menu due to its overwhelming popularity.
Erewhon's website now lists the drink simply as the Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie, with all references to the influencer wiped clean. The 20-oz beverage remains available at West Coast locations, but the celebrity endorsement has vanished without explanation from either party.
Customer Loyalty Versus Corporate Decisions
Despite the formal separation, customers remain loyal to the original branding. Store employees revealed that patrons continue to ask for the 'Hailey Bieber Smoothie' when placing orders, demonstrating the power of celebrity influence over official naming conventions.
"All the customers don't know. They still say Hailey Bieber. She's not getting anything, but it's good for us," one associate told Page Six. Another employee added: "People still call it the Hailey Bieber. It rolls off the tongue better than saying Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie."
Staff were quick to reassure customers that the recipe remains unchanged. The pink-and-white concoction still contains organic strawberries, almond milk, bananas, avocado, dates, maple syrup, collagen peptides, sea moss gel, and coconut cream. "It's still the same ingredients, it's still sweet. It still has the spirit of Hailey!" one worker emphasised.
Nutritional Reality Behind the Glow
While Bieber has credited the smoothie with giving her glowing skin and reportedly consumes one daily as part of her routine, nutrition experts have raised eyebrows at the beverage's nutritional profile. The celebrity-endorsed drink contains approximately 700 calories and nearly 80 grams of sugar per 20-oz serving.
To put this in perspective, that's ten times the sugar content of a Krispy Kreme doughnut and significantly more calories than a large Starbucks Frappuccino. A large Sugar Cookie Almond milk Frappuccino from Starbucks contains 440 calories and 74 grams of sugar for comparison.
Alabama-based dietitian Carolyn Williams told DailyMail.com: "It's not going to improve your skin any more than another smoothie with fresh fruits in it." Experts suggest these expensive celebrity smoothies risk promoting weight gain if consumed regularly and contain supplements of questionable value.
Erewhon has previously declined to provide nutritional information for the smoothie, which remains absent from their website, despite claiming to inspire "good decision-making and healthier communities."
Meanwhile, Hailey Bieber's Strawberry Glaze Soft Serve Sundae remains available for £8.50, and Erewhon continues partnerships with other celebrities including Sabrina Carpenter, Kourtney Kardashian, and Bella Hadid. The mystery surrounding the smoothie's rebranding continues as both parties maintain their silence.
