ITV Secures Major Disney+ Deal: Hit Shows Coming to ITVX in Weeks
Disney+ Shows Coming to ITVX in Major Streaming Deal

In a significant move for UK streaming, ITV has announced a major content partnership with Disney+, securing a wide-ranging selection of the platform's popular shows for its ITVX service.

What's Included in the ITV and Disney+ Deal?

The agreement, branded as 'A Taste of Disney+ on ITVX', will see a diverse array of Disney+ titles become available to stream for free on ITV's platform over the coming months. This follows a reciprocal deal earlier in the year which saw Disney+ subscribers gain access to ITV hits like Mr Bates vs The Post Office and Vera.

The new batch of content spans multiple genres, including acclaimed US drama, reality TV, Marvel superhero action, and gripping documentaries. The rollout is scheduled across January, February, and March 2024, with specific shows dropping on set dates.

The line-up offers something for every viewer's taste. The culinary drama The Bear, starring Jeremy Allen White as chef Carmy Berzatto, kicks things off on January 7.

This is followed by the family mystery Black Cake on January 14, the same day the documentary Stolen Youth: Inside The Cult at Sarah Lawrence arrives. Music fans can delve into Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All on January 21.

February brings the sitcom American Housewife (Series 1) on the 4th, the Marvel series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law on the 11th, and the crime drama Will Trent (Series 1) on the 18th.

March concludes the initial wave with the true-crime documentary Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini on the 11th. Finally, on March 18, viewers get the reality series Vanderpump Villa (Series 1) and the TV sequel to the beloved film, The Full Monty (Series 1), starring original cast members like Robert Carlyle and Mark Addy.

A Strategic Win for ITVX

This deal represents a strategic coup for ITV, significantly boosting the content library of its free, ad-supported streaming service, ITVX. By offering a curated 'taste' of premium Disney+ content, ITV aims to attract new viewers and increase engagement on its platform.

For audiences, it means access to high-profile shows without the need for an additional subscription, democratising access to content that was previously behind a paywall. This type of cross-platform partnership is becoming an increasingly common strategy in the competitive streaming landscape, as services look to expand their reach and offer greater value.
