Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay was the picture of paternal pride this morning as he escorted his daughter, Holly Ramsay, into Bath Abbey for her wedding to Olympic champion Adam Peaty. The joyous occasion, however, unfolded against a backdrop of reported familial discord involving the groom's side of the family.
A Proud Father's Moment
The 58-year-old television personality was seen beaming with joy as he arrived at the historic abbey ahead of the midday ceremony on Saturday, December 27. Holding his daughter's hand, Ramsay carefully helped lift the hem of her elaborate wedding dress as they passed through the grand wooden doors. The abbey was lavishly decorated for the occasion with hundreds of white roses adorning the entrance.
Guests began arriving from 11am, with security and media barriers in place for the high-profile attendees. The couple are set to continue their celebrations with a glamorous reception at the Kin House country estate in Wiltshire later today.
Family Tensions Overshadow Nuptials
While the focus for the newlyweds was firmly on their union, the build-up to the wedding has been dominated by reports of a rift within Adam Peaty's family. It is believed the swimmer's parents, Caroline and Mark Peaty, were absent from the ceremony following a bitter fallout over aspects of the wedding plans.
Tensions are said to have escalated after Caroline Peaty was not invited to Holly's hen party. A further dispute reportedly arose over Caroline's choice of outfit, which Adam is said to have rejected because the cream colour was considered too similar to traditional bridal white.
The situation spilled onto social media when Adam's aunt, Louise, publicly criticised the treatment of her sister. In a now-deleted post, she accused Holly of being "divisive and hurtful" for not inviting her future mother-in-law to the pre-wedding celebrations, despite Gordon Ramsay attending Adam's stag do.
Ramsay's Unwavering Support
In contrast to the reported strife, Gordon Ramsay has been openly and warmly supportive of his new son-in-law. Ahead of the ceremony, he shared a heartfelt tribute on social media.
"I'm truly so lucky being able to walk this beautiful bride down the aisle and gaining an incredible son in law @adam_peaty!" he wrote. "I love you so much @hollyramsayy and couldn't be a prouder Dad xxx."
This public endorsement is not the first from the chef. Earlier this year, he praised Adam on the High Performance podcast, gushing, "Honestly, I could not ask for a more down-to-earth, respectable future son-in-law. What he's achieved is incredible, and he's not done yet."
Adam Peaty himself has acknowledged the family situation, issuing a statement online asking for privacy and noting that there are "two sides to every story." Despite the challenges, the wedding day itself was a spectacle of joy, with a beaming father of the bride firmly at the centre of the celebrations.
