British Mum's Turkey Holiday Disaster: 'Book Turkey in April?'
Turkey Holiday Fail: Mum Warns About April Trip

A British mother from Blidworth, Nottinghamshire, has shared her disappointment after booking a family holiday to Turkey in April, only to be met with cold and overcast conditions. Millie Overton, who expected sunny skies and warm temperatures, took to TikTok to reveal the 'reality' of her all-inclusive trip, wrapping herself in a blanket while lounging by the hotel pool.

Disappointing April Weather

In a viral video, Overton showed herself wearing sunglasses but bundled up against the chill, with the sky appearing grey and gloomy—reminiscent of a typical British day. She captioned the post: 'Book Turkey in April... says no one ever!!!' and added, 'Think it’s warmer at home! It’s [a] break though isn’t it?'

The average temperature in Turkey during April ranges from 10°C to 20°C, which is mild and pleasant for sightseeing but less ideal for a beach holiday. In contrast, the UK experienced an unusually warm April, with temperatures reaching up to 26°C in some areas.

Other Travellers Share Concerns

Overton’s video resonated with other travellers. One commented, 'I'm coming in 7 days pretty scared,' while another wrote, 'We arrive on Thursday & it looks like a week of rain, taking my waterproof jacket & warmer clothing.' A third user suggested, 'Why are you forcing yourself to sit outside if you’re cold? Go indoors. It’s not a mandatory activity to sit by a pool on holiday.' However, some had better luck, with one person sharing, 'Went in the end of March and had good weather.'

The incident serves as a reminder for holidaymakers to check average temperatures before booking, especially during shoulder seasons, to avoid being let down by the weather.
