Elizabeth Hurley's son, Damian Hurley, has stepped forward to publicly support his mother's surprising romance with country music star Billy Ray Cyrus. The 23-year-old model took to his Instagram stories to address what he called 'untrue' stories circulating about the relationship, offering a glowing endorsement of the singer.
Damian penned a heartfelt message stating: 'I've been in the public eye since the day I was born and rarely comment on anything written about me or my family.' He directly countered recent reports by adding: 'For the record: I adore @billyraycyrus and think he's one of the sweetest men I've ever met. I love seeing my mom so happy.'
A Modern Family's United Front
The young model, whose biological father is Steve Bing, elaborated on his family dynamic, describing it as a 'modern family' that includes Elizabeth's former husband Arun Nayar. The actress was married to Nayar from 2007 until their divorce was finalised in 2011.
Damian extended his praise to Billy Ray's children, calling them 'adorable' and noting that the families 'get along beautifully.' He expressed gratitude for his supportive family network, writing: 'I feel blessed every day to be surrounded by so much love and support. I'm grateful for the truth we live, despite the stories others try to write for us.'
From Easter Revelation to Red Carpet Appearances
The whirlwind romance first came to public attention in April during Easter weekend, when the 60-year-old actress shocked fans by debuting her relationship with the 64-year-old 'Achy Breaky Heart' singer. Damian showed his immediate support by commenting with a black heart emoji on the initial announcement.
According to sources speaking to The Sun at the time: 'Damian has met Billy and is a really big fan of his. They hit it off when they hung out on set. All he wants is for his mum to be happy and he saw their spark straight away and is delighted they are now giving it a go.'
The couple made their red carpet debut in May at the Orizzonti | Rosso Exhibition Opening Dinner in Rome, with Damian joining them. The actress has shared her excitement about introducing Billy Ray to traditional English Christmas celebrations at her countryside home in Herefordshire. She explained during LYMA's Power Women series: 'So all I want for Christmas this year is that Billy, my new boyfriend, enjoys his first English Christmas.'
Reflecting on their connection, Elizabeth noted that despite being content single, she 'felt incredibly comfortable and natural and easy from the first second' with the country singer. Their relationship began after his divorce from Firerose, following their meeting on the set of the 2022 film Christmas In Paradise.
