The family of a 16-year-old girl who was fatally stabbed in Leeds over the weekend have paid an emotional tribute, describing themselves as "utterly devastated" by the tragic loss.
Chloe Watson Dransfield Found Unconscious in Austhorpe
Chloe Watson Dransfield, aged 16, died in hospital after being discovered unconscious in the Austhorpe area of Leeds at approximately 6am on Saturday morning. West Yorkshire Police confirmed that officers were called to Kennerleigh Avenue at 5.55am following reports of a young woman found unconscious at the scene.
She was found to have sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with tributes left at the location in Kennerleigh Avenue.
Family's Heartbreaking Statements of Loss
In a tribute released through the police, Chloe's father and other family members expressed their profound grief. They stated: "We miss every single thing about her. She was beautiful, full of joy, and had a wonderfully cheeky personality. She embraced life with such happiness, and she had her whole future ahead of her."
The family added: "Chloe was loved by everyone who knew her, and the absence she leaves behind is immeasurable. We will miss her forever, she will never be forgotten." The tribute was signed by Dad, Sacha, Reuben, Mia, Amelia, Grandma, Grandad and Uncle Jordan.
Chloe's mother also issued a separate statement, saying: "My beautiful princess Chloe. I cannot put into words how I feel that you are not here with me. You are my life, my world, my best friend and I know that I am yours. I cannot live without you – I need you."
She described her daughter as "stunning, confident, loyal, honest and my family-oriented princess" who would light up any room with her bubbly personality. The mother concluded: "There's a big hole in my heart that can never be filled. Your two sisters and big brother will always love and miss you to infinity. You will always and forever be in our hearts."
Police Investigation and Arrests
West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that a 17-year-old boy was arrested on Monday on suspicion of Chloe's murder. Additionally, four other individuals remain in custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, who is leading the investigation, stated: "Our thoughts remain with Chloe's family at this incredibly difficult time. Our specially-trained officers continue to provide them with support."
He emphasized: "Our investigation into her death is ongoing and five people arrested on suspicion of murder remain in custody, as we continue to establish the full circumstances of this incident."
DCI Entwistle has issued a public appeal for information, urging anyone with relevant details to come forward. He specifically requested: "If you have any mobile phone footage that you believe might be connected to this incident then you can send it to our Major Incident Public Portal."
