Coronation Street Star Beverley Callard Shares Health Update After Chaotic Hospital Visit
Coronation Street's Beverley Callard Updates on Cancer Battle

Coronation Street icon Beverley Callard has candidly opened up about her latest health scare, describing her recent hospital visit as 'chaotic'. The 69-year-old actress, known for playing Liz McDonald, revealed earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. Following an initial operation, she has been awaiting radiotherapy treatment.

Health Update on Social Media

In her latest Instagram update, Beverley shared a video from her hospital bed, detailing the series of tests and scans she underwent. She wrote: 'Well that was a long day! Lots of tests and scans and more tests… followed by a rather chaotic meeting of the radiotherapy team! The plan is starting to come together but I’m just anxious to get started now…'

In the video, she explained: 'So far, blood pressure done, that's high, of course because I'm nervous. They've taken blood, blood oxygen levels and now they're going to see if they can fit me in for a scan, before they get the results of the blood tests.'

Good News Amidst the Chaos

Later, she shared a clip outside the hospital, revealing that tests had ruled out a blood clot. She said: 'Good news is, it's definitely not a blood clot, they did all the ultrasound, they did everything.. every test going they did and apparently it's a cyst but it's quite common. I'm not pleased I've got something quite common but there we go.'

She explained the cyst is at the back of her knee and that she visited St Luke's to see a radiotherapist. The appointment was chaotic due to a computer system failure, causing delays. She met with Professor Armstrong, who outlined a treatment plan of 10 days of radiotherapy: five consecutive days, a weekend off, then five more days. The start date for treatment is yet to be confirmed.

Support from Fans

Followers flooded the comments with messages of support. One wrote: 'Bless you, we are all behind you for a speedy recovery.' Another added: 'You did the right thing getting it checked out. Glad it was a cyst and not a blood clot. Sending hugs and love to you.'

Beverley has been regularly updating her fans since revealing her diagnosis in February, and continues to receive an outpouring of love and encouragement.
