A prominent figure from BBC's Morning Live has publicly addressed swirling rumours that they have been 'quietly replaced' on the popular daytime show, following a notable six-month absence from the screen.
Addressing the Speculation Head-On
Dr. Ranj Singh, the 46-year-old NHS clinician who joined the Morning Live team as its resident doctor in 2021, took to Instagram to clarify his status. In a video message to his followers, he directly tackled the questions that have been mounting since his last appearance in July 2025.
'Have I been sacked? No, I haven't,' Dr. Ranj stated emphatically. He explained that after nearly two decades of service within the National Health Service, he felt compelled to pursue a 'new challenge.' This led to his involvement with commercial brands, most notably the weight loss injection company Voy, alongside television personality Coleen Nolan.
Editorial Guidelines and a Temporary Break
The doctor elaborated that his corporate affiliations have necessitated a temporary step back from his television duties. 'Because of on-screen editorial guidelines, whilst I'm working with those brands... I can't be on Morning Live,' he clarified. He was keen to stress that there has been no falling out with the production team and that he has not been replaced.
'My hope is to go back to Morning Live as soon as my brand work is over,' Dr. Ranj concluded, expressing a clear intention to return to the programme.
Reports of Replacement and New Faces
The speculation was fuelled by reports, including from The Sun, which suggested Dr. Ranj had been 'quietly replaced' by new medical experts on the show. These fresh faces reportedly include The Traitors alumnus Dr. Kasim Ahmed and Dr. Aziza Sesay.
A source close to the production commented on the situation, highlighting the topical nature of weight loss injections. 'With weight loss injections being very topical at the moment, it would have been inappropriate for him to have been discussing it on-screen having signed a deal to promote a weight loss company,' the source explained.
The insider added that while Dr. Ranj focuses on other projects, the show benefits from a rotating 'pool of experts,' describing the setup as a 'team effort.'
Commercial Deals and Future Uncertainty
Dr. Ranj's commercial deal with Voy, a company backed by institutions including the University of Oxford, remains a focal point. The platform charges a minimum of £169 per month for its weight loss injection services. In promotional material, Dr. Ranj has praised Voy for bringing 'coaching' and 'clinical support' under one roof to create a personalised weight management solution.
While the financial details of his current brand agreements are undisclosed, it is known that he previously received £22,500 for featuring in an AstraZeneca advertisement concerning childhood flu. His last social media post for Voy was on November 13, and his exact return date to Morning Live remains unclear.
The BBC and Dr. Ranj's representatives were contacted for comment regarding the ongoing situation and his future on the programme, which airs weekdays on BBC One and is available via iPlayer.
