Samuel Monroe Jr. Fights MRSA Pneumonia on Life Support

Samuel Monroe Jr., the actor best known for his role in the 1993 film Menace II Society, is facing a new health crisis while on life support in a Southern California hospital. His wife, Shawna Stewart, revealed on Tuesday that the 52-year-old has been diagnosed with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) pneumonia, a serious lung infection resistant to many antibiotics.

New Health Battle

According to TMZ, Stewart stated that doctors have started a new antibiotic regimen to combat the bacteria, but the family can only wait to see if the treatment is effective. The Daily Mail has reached out to Stewart for comment. MRSA pneumonia, often contracted in hospitals, causes inflamed lungs filled with fluid or pus, making breathing difficult, as per Healthline. Without prompt treatment, it can lead to deadly sepsis or septic shock.

Previous Meningitis Struggle

Monroe has already been fighting a devastating battle with meningitis for 18 months. Stewart confirmed to Complex that he contracted meningitis while filming in Las Vegas, and it was misdiagnosed for eight months, allowing the infection to spread to his spine and brain. He has endured two brain surgeries and remains on life support.

I love you, son, to the moon and back 100 times.' The family has created a GoFundMe to cover medical bills, emphasizing support for his children, Kingston (12) and Brooklynn (11).
