A pickup truck driver who struck and killed a jogger in Nebraska last year is now suing the victim’s estate for emotional injuries and medical costs, according to court records.
Anthony Miller, 25, was fatally hit in August 2025 while jogging with his wife, Bailey Miller, in Lincoln. The driver, Gavin Maas, 25, told police he saw Bailey on the side of the road and moved to give her space but did not see Anthony until it was too late.
Investigators cited the time of day and rainy weather as possible factors and did not issue a citation. Maas stayed at the scene and attempted life-saving measures, local outlet KOLN reported.
Maas is now suing Anthony’s estate for at least $50,000, claiming he suffered PTSD after the crash and was hospitalised multiple times, according to the Omaha World-Herald.
Bailey Miller told the newspaper she and Anthony had been married for seven years and had two young daughters. Anthony worked as a nurse practitioner in acute care surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where colleagues described him as compassionate and dedicated.
