Richard Gere Premieres Documentary on Homelessness in Madrid

Hollywood Star Shines Light on Homelessness in Madrid

Richard Gere and his wife, Spanish activist Alejandra Silva, presented a united front at the Madrid premiere of their short documentary film, What Nobody Wants to See, on Monday evening. The couple, who married in 2018, looked every bit the glamorous pair as they walked the red carpet for this deeply personal project.

A Stylish Affair for a Serious Cause

The Hollywood actor, 76, cut a suave figure in a sophisticated navy suit. He slicked back his silver hair and layered his tailored blazer over a crisp white shirt, completing his look with a pair of trendy black trainers. His wife, Alejandra Silva, 42, looked effortlessly chic in a black tuxedo featuring satin lapels. She elevated her ensemble with strappy heels and accessorised with a elegant pair of pendant diamond earrings.

The new movie, produced by the couple who relocated to Spain earlier this year, has a powerful mission: to raise empathy for the issue of homelessness. This project aligns perfectly with their long-standing philanthropic work.

A Family United in Charity and a New Life in Spain

Gere and Silva, who share two young sons—Alexander, six, and James, five—are a tight-knit family. Earlier this year, the Pretty Woman star gave a rare glimpse of his family life, posting a sweet snap where the family donned matching grey hoodies for the non-profit organisation Open Arms Foundation.

This charity, which Gere has been involved with for years, provides free accommodation for those who must travel for medical treatment. In 2019, his commitment saw him personally aboard an Open Arms rescue vessel in the Mediterranean, helping bring supplies to 121 migrants who had fled war-torn Libya.

The family's move to Spain has been a happy one. In a recent interview, Gere expressed, 'We are happier than ever', while Silva gushed that they are like 'soulmates' who share the same values. She also praised Gere as a 'very devoted and present father' who loves reading to their children. The actor confirmed the relocation was a promise to his Spanish wife, stating their bilingual children would 'flourish' in Madrid.
