Former Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas has revealed that he is in therapy following his feud with boxer David Haye on I'm A Celebrity... South Africa. Thomas, who is competing in the All Stars version of the ITV reality series, said the experience has affected him mentally.
During the show, Haye criticised Thomas for not feeling well enough to take part in a Bushtucker Trial, with comments including: 'Dehydrated?! We've all got the same amount of water! ... When is your top form gonna come?' Thomas, who has arthritis, later shared an Instagram post saying that Haye 'broke me in there' but added that Haye had apologised and he had moved on.
Speaking on the podcast At Home With The Thomas Bros with his brothers Scott and Ryan, Thomas said: 'I'm in therapy now because of it. It's f***ed with me mentally.' He explained that he asked his therapist why he could not stick up for himself, and learned that he did not want to bring attention to his struggles and was more focused on others.
Thomas noted that he does not regret going on the series, but admitted that at times he felt pushed to his limits. He also said that his experience in the jungle has changed him, and that he isolated himself from the group during the conflict. Haye was eliminated from the show, and Thomas has since said he accepts the apology.
