Australian swimming legend Ariarne Titmus has taken on a new role as a television personality, just months after retiring from the sport she dedicated her life to. Titmus announced her retirement from competitive swimming in October 2025, citing a desire for new challenges in life.
Since stepping away from the pool, the 25-year-old has been enjoying her time away from the sporting world, spending quality moments with her long-time partner, Mac. However, she has now been unveiled as part of Channel Seven's broadcast team for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
Titmus will serve as a mixed zone reporter, meaning she will interview swimmers on the pool deck after their races, keeping her connected to the sport she loves even though she won't be competing.
'I'm so excited,' Titmus told Sunrise. 'It's going to be great to be on pool deck. It's actually my first international meet where I'll be on pool deck cheering, but also speaking to the athletes after their races. So I'm really looking forward to it.'
This is not Titmus's first television role. Last year, she joined Channel Nine's broadcast team to provide expert analysis at swimming events and appeared at the 2025 Australian Swimming Trials. She has also featured on the network's Australian Open coverage and starred in the reality series 'SHARK'.
Reflecting on her retirement, Titmus told News Corp earlier this year: 'I've lived my life not caring that I never got to spend birthdays with friends or never being able to go to family events. But I wasn't willing to go back to the life where I made the decision to put my family second.'
She added, 'I also met my partner right after the [Paris] Olympics. I wasn't willing to put that on the backburner. If I hadn't been Olympic champion or world record holder, this wouldn't be the decision I'm making. But because I can look at myself and know I've absolutely done everything you can in the sport ... it felt like the right time to step away.'
Titmus, a four-time Olympic gold medalist, moved to the Victorian capital to be with her partner last year.
