A former McDonald's employee has shared some insider tips about the fast food chain, including the best method to ensure you get fresh fries without resorting to the 'no salt' request. The revelation comes via TikTok, where the ex-staffer, known as @jodessy, explained why asking for fries with no salt is pointless and actually slows down service.
The Fresh Fries Trick
Many customers ask for fries with no salt in hopes of getting a freshly cooked batch, often adding their own seasoning later. However, @jodessy insists this approach is entirely unnecessary. She advises simply asking for the fries to be 'dropped fresh', noting that nine times out of ten, the fries are already freshly prepared. This method avoids the annoyance of the no-salt request and ensures you get piping hot fries.
Other McDonald's Secrets Revealed
The former employee also shed light on why milkshake and ice cream machines often appear broken. According to her, the machines are rarely actually broken; rather, staff sometimes claim they are out of order to avoid the hassle of refilling heavy bags of shake mix. She added that employees are technically not allowed to accept tips, but she admitted to taking them anyway.
Viewers of the TikTok video confirmed these insights. One commented, 'I worked at McDonald's and these are all accurate.' Another defended the no-salt request for health reasons, saying, 'My dad can't have the extra salt, it's not about freshness but his health.'
New Menu Items
This comes as McDonald's announces new breakfast items for UK customers, including the Single or Double Sausage and Egg McMuffin with Frank's RedHot Ketchup, featuring a seasoned pork sausage patty, egg, and cheese on a toasted English muffin. Also new is the Breakfast Wrap with Frank's RedHot Ketchup, containing a pork sausage patty, two eggs, bacon, potato rosti, and cheese in a tortilla wrap. New drinks include Raspberry with Sprite Zero and Pineapple with Sprite Zero.
