Sir Mo Farah, Britain's greatest endurance runner, will serve as honorary starter at the London Marathon on Sunday, April 26, sending off 59,000 participants from Blackheath to The Mall. The 43-year-old retired from professional distance running in September 2023, having run the London Marathon for the final time in April of that year. Despite never winning the event, he secured a third-place finish in 2018.
Farah's net worth is estimated at around £3.75 million, with some estimates reaching £5 million. He amassed his fortune through endorsement deals with Nike, Huawei, Virgin Media, Quorn, Lucozade, Bupa, Save the Children, and B&M, among others. During his prime, he earned millions annually.
Farah won Olympic gold in the 5,000m and 10,000m at both London 2012 and Rio 2016. In a 2022 BBC documentary, 'The Real Mo Farah', he revealed he was brought to the UK illegally as a child under the name Mohamed Farah, with his real name being Hussein Abdi Kahin. His father was killed in the civil war in Somaliland when Farah was four, and he was separated from his mother.
Farah has been married to Tania Neill since 2010; they met at school when he was 12 and she was 11. They reconnected via Facebook years later. The couple have three children: twins Aisha and Amani (born 2012) and son Hussein (born 2015). Neill also has a child from a previous relationship.
