Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank are 'very pleased' to announce they are expecting their third child, due this summer, Buckingham Palace confirmed on Monday. The King is 'delighted' with the news, while the couple's sons, August (aged five) and Ernest (aged two), are 'very excited' to welcome a younger sibling.
In a photograph shared by Eugenie, 36, Ernest is seen wearing a Chelsea football kit and August a long-sleeved grey t-shirt, both holding a baby scan picture. The palace statement read: 'Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer. August (aged five) and Ernest (aged two) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family. His Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news.'
The new baby, who will not hold the title HRH, will be 15th in line to the throne, moving their great uncle the Duke of Edinburgh to 16th place. The child will also be the 15th great-grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II and the third born since her death in 2022. This will be the fifth grandchild of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, following Princess Beatrice's daughter Athena Mapelli Mozzi, born in January 2023.
Mr Brooksbank celebrated his 40th birthday on Sunday, with Eugenie sharing Instagram photos of him relaxing on a beach with the caption 'happy 40th my love'. The couple married in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, in October 2018. Their first child, August, was born on February 9 2021, and Ernest on May 30 2023.
