Former The Wanted star Nathan Sykes has opened up about the heartbreaking postponement of his wedding to dancer Charlotte Burke, revealing that bridesmaid complications have forced the couple to delay their special day.
The 31-year-old singer shared the disappointing news during an emotional appearance on the How to Fail podcast with Elizabeth Day, explaining that several bridesmaids unexpectedly pulled out of the ceremony.
Dream Wedding Derailed
"We were meant to be getting married this year and we've had to push it back because we had quite a few bridesmaids drop out," Sykes revealed, his voice tinged with disappointment. The Gloucester-born artist didn't specify the reasons behind the bridesmaids' withdrawals but made clear the impact it had on their wedding plans.
The couple, who got engaged in 2022 after four years of dating, had been meticulously planning their celebration. Sykes described the situation as "really sad" for his fiancée Charlotte, who works as a dancer and model.
Support System Strengthened
Despite the setback, the musician emphasised the silver lining: "It's actually been really nice because it's given us more time to plan and we've had some really lovely people step in as bridesmaids."
The extra time has allowed the couple to reconsider their arrangements and ensure their wedding party consists of their most reliable friends and family members. Sykes noted that the reshuffle has ultimately strengthened their support network ahead of the big day.
From Boyband to Bridegroom
Sykes found fame as the youngest member of The Wanted, scoring numerous hits including Glad You Came and Walks Like Rihanna before the group disbanded in 2014. Since then, he's pursued a solo career while maintaining a relatively private personal life.
His relationship with Charlotte Burke has been a steady feature since 2018, with the couple making occasional public appearances together while largely keeping their romance out of the spotlight.
While no new wedding date has been announced publicly, fans of the singer are eagerly awaiting news of the rescheduled celebration, hoping the extra planning time results in the perfect day for the couple.
