A woman who left an apology note for her neighbour after hosting a 21st birthday party has been moved to tears by the response she received. The neighbour, who has been self-isolating alone, described the noise as 'music to my ears'.
The note, shared on Reddit, explained that the party was for a friend's 21st birthday. The neighbour, named Kathy, wrote back: 'Please don't ever apologise for the noise. To me, it is not noise. It is music to my ears.'
Kathy revealed that she has been living alone since her husband of nearly 45 years passed away three years ago. She said the sounds of laughter and fun reminded her of when her own children were young.
'I love your laughter and screeching! It's simply fantastic!!!' Kathy wrote. 'It reminds me of the years we were in our house with fun loving kids and all their joy and laughter.'
The note has gone viral, with many online users expressing how touched they were by the exchange. One Reddit user commented: 'What a wonderful and positive woman she is! I hope you invite her to your parties one day.'
Kathy ended her letter by saying she would miss the laughter and music when the woman moves away, adding: 'Happy 21st birthday to you!! -Kathy.'
