Alex Jones and Roman Kemp have unveiled The One Show’s 20th anniversary rose at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, celebrating two decades of the BBC One programme. The rose, bred by Peter Beales Roses over ten years, will be on display at the Peter Beales Roses stand.
The compact shrub, measuring approximately 90cm x 90cm, features glossy green foliage and excellent disease resistance. Its warm coral-pink blooms, with deeper rose edging and golden centres, appear in clusters from summer into autumn.
The official unveiling will air on Monday's The One Show at 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer. Viewers will be able to purchase the rose, with £5 from each sale donated to BBC Children in Need, a charity supported by the programme through The One Challenge Squad.
Alex Jones, host for 16 years, said: “The One Show’s 20th rose is absolutely beautiful and it’s the perfect way to mark the show’s milestone birthday.” Roman Kemp added: “This launch is a brilliant way to kick start the anniversary celebrations.”
BBC Commissioning Editor Alex McLeod commented: “To celebrate The One Show’s anniversary, it felt only right to have a rose in our name - because nothing says enduring British favourite quite like one in full bloom.”
