JB Gill, the well-known television presenter and former JLS singer, has candidly discussed his married life with dancer wife Chloe, including their decision not to renew their wedding vows after more than ten years of marriage. The couple, who tied the knot in 2014, initially considered a vow renewal ceremony to mark their decade milestone but ultimately chose against it.
Why the Vow Renewal Plans Were Abandoned
In a recent interview, JB Gill opened up about the reasons behind this personal choice. He explained that while he and Chloe had always planned to renew their vows at the ten-year mark, the timing simply did not feel appropriate. "It was really weird because we always said 10 years," he shared. "And listen, we'd have loved to have done it just to say that we did it, but it just didn't quite feel right."
Gill attributed this decision to the couple's current life stage, which is heavily focused on raising their two children, Ace and Chiara. He described this period as "the busy part of life," where parental responsibilities take precedence. "We're in the thick of it," he noted, highlighting how their children demand much of their attention and leave little spare time for such celebrations.
Looking Ahead to Future Milestones
Looking forward, JB Gill suggested that a vow renewal might be more fitting in the future, when their children are older and more independent. "I think in the next ten years for example Ace will be 21, which is nuts," he said. "But I think at that stage when they're sort of a lot more independent and doing their own thing, maybe at uni or at work, got their own house or whatever, then that'll be the time to sort of get together and have some time for ourselves."
This perspective reflects a pragmatic approach to marriage, where the couple prioritizes family dynamics and long-term planning over ceremonial gestures. Despite not renewing their vows, JB fondly recalled their original wedding on the Scottish Island of Bute as "the best day of my life," with his JLS bandmates in attendance.
JB Gill's Career and Personal Life
JB Gill, 39, rose to fame as a member of the chart-topping pop group JLS before transitioning into television. His career includes appearances on shows like Strictly Come Dancing, where he partnered with Welsh pro Amy Dowden in the 2024 series, and Celebrity Apprentice. He currently serves as a regular co-presenter on BBC's The One Show, alongside Alex Jones.
In contrast to JB's decision, his co-presenter Alex Jones recently celebrated her own ten-year wedding anniversary with husband Charlie Thomson. She marked the occasion by sharing a photograph from their 2015 New Year's Eve nuptials at Cardiff Castle, expressing gratitude for their family and friends.
The One Show airs on BBC One weekdays at 7pm and is available on BBC iPlayer, continuing to feature JB Gill in his hosting role as he balances his professional commitments with family life.
