Trump Says Iran Peace Plan Under Review, Warns New Strikes Possible
Trump Warns Iran New Strikes Possible as Peace Plan Reviewed

President Donald Trump has announced he is reviewing a new peace plan from Iran, but warned the nation has “not yet paid a big enough price” for its actions. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, “I will soon be reviewing the plan that Iran has just sent to us, but can’t imagine that it would be acceptable in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years.”

Threat of New Strikes

Speaking to reporters at Palm Beach International Airport on Saturday, the U.S. president indicated that there is a “possibility” he could order more strikes against Iran. “If they misbehave, if they do something bad — but right now, we'll see. It's a possibility that could happen, certainly,” he said.

This comes as a senior Iranian official warned that renewed conflict between Iran and the U.S. is “likely,” amid growing fears that a temporary ceasefire could soon collapse. The official revealed that Tehran's proposal, which was rejected by Trump, would have opened shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and ended the U.S. blockade of Iran, while leaving negotiations on its nuclear programme for a later stage.

Troop Withdrawals and Nato Tensions

Trump also threatened to cut more than 5,000 U.S. troops from Germany, continuing his disagreement with Chancellor Friedrich Merz over the war in Iran. The announcement has caused concern among top Republican lawmakers, who expressed unease about the Pentagon's decision to withdraw troops from a Nato ally. Poland’s prime minister remarked that Nato was “disintegrating” in response to the withdrawal.

As the conflict enters its 65th day, the situation remains volatile, with both sides signalling potential for further escalation despite diplomatic efforts.
