The BBC has released first-look pictures of its upcoming four-part thriller The Guest, starring Gabrielle Creevy, Eve Myles, Sion Daniel Young and Emun Elliott. Filmed and set in Wales, the series will air on BBC iPlayer and BBC One this autumn.
Written and created by BAFTA Cymru-winning writer Matthew Barry (Men Up), the series is produced by Quay Street Productions (part of ITV Studios) in co-commission with BBC Cymru Wales. The fast-paced story centres on the toxic relationship between successful business owner Fran (Eve Myles) and her employee Ria (Gabrielle Creevy).
Ria, who has never had the chance to consider what she wants from life, is drawn to Fran's confidence. When Fran encourages her to take control, Ria flourishes and an intense friendship forms. However, Fran's advice leads to a shocking event, entwining the two women in shared secrets and dangerous plots, leading to a manipulative game of cat and mouse.
The first-look images highlight the contrast between Ria's and Fran's lives before they become intertwined. The series is executive produced by Matthew Barry, Davina Earl, Nicola Shindler, Rebecca Ferguson, Nick Andrews, and Ashley Way, who also directs all four episodes. BAFTA-winner Karen Lewis produces. The Guest has received Welsh Government support via Creative Wales and will be distributed internationally by ITV Studios.
