Netflix has partnered with Cheo Hodari Coker, the creator of Marvel's Luke Cage, and music icon Jay-Z to adapt Dwayne Alexander Smith's novel 'Forty Acres' into a feature film.

Published in 2014, the thriller follows a civil rights attorney who is welcomed into an elite Black organisation, only to uncover a shocking conspiracy that forces him to fight for his life. The film is described as a cross between 'The Firm' and 'Get Out'.

Coker will write the screenplay, while Jay-Z, James Lassiter, and Aaron Kaplan join him as producers. Casting has not yet been announced as the project is in early development.
