Reality television personality Chris Hughes has candidly discussed the significant strains of maintaining a long-distance romance with American star JoJo Siwa, revealing the pair have endured their longest separation yet of nearly five weeks.
The Challenge of Transatlantic Love
The 32-year-old Love Island alumnus confirmed he is scheduled to fly to Orlando, Florida, the week before Christmas to finally reunite with Siwa and spend time with her family. The couple, who first sparked romance rumours after meeting on the UK edition of Big Brother in April, have been navigating a relationship split between the United Kingdom and the United States.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Hughes outlined his plans, stating, "She’s back in America at the moment… I’m going out to see her family the week before Christmas, to Orlando." He emphasised the difficulty of the current stretch apart: "This space now is like the longest I will have gone since I haven’t seen her. So it’s going to be nearly four or five weeks by the time I see her again."
A Carefully Planned Reunion
Hughes has a very specific schedule for his transatlantic trip. He plans to attend the highly anticipated Sunderland versus Newcastle football match on Sunday, December 14th, as a devoted Sunderland fan, before departing for the US the following day. "I’m flying out on the Monday the next day," he explained. "And then I get to see her family, which will be really nice before Christmas. They do a lot for me, her mum and dad and brother and Abby as well."
The couple's relationship became public after their stint in the Big Brother house, where viewers noted a clear chemistry between them. Initially, both insisted they were just friends, but they soon confirmed a romantic connection. This development followed Siwa's split from her previous partner, Kath Ebbs, shortly after the show concluded.
Moving On from Past Relationships
The article also provides an update on Kath Ebbs, who was reportedly blindsided by the end of her relationship with Siwa. Ebbs has since moved on and is now in a relationship with Tilly Lucas-Rodd. The pair recently caused a stir on TikTok by pretending to be engaged, wearing matching rings as a joke.
Addressing the online confusion, Ebbs said, "Another day of my sense of humour getting me into trouble." She clarified the situation, stating, "Me and Tilly as a joke... someone asked because we both wear rings on our wedding fingers, and so the whole running joke was like 'yeah we're engaged, call the Daily Mail!' I've woken up to articles saying that me and Tilly are engaged." She attributed the misunderstanding to differences in humour, particularly with American audiences online.
As the festive season approaches, all eyes will be on Hughes and Siwa's Christmas reunion, marking a welcome end to their most challenging period of separation to date.
