'Nightmare Neighbour' Evicted After Years of Abuse Caught on Doorbell Cam
Nightmare Neighbour Evicted After Doorbell Abuse

A couple in South Lanarkshire are celebrating after their 'nightmare neighbour' was evicted following a prolonged campaign of abuse documented on their doorbell camera. Chris and Amy Masterson, who live in Forth, say they lived in fear of Peter Ferguson, who moved onto their street in 2024 and subjected them to relentless verbal abuse and threats.

Years of Abuse Caught on Camera

The couple, parents to two children, recorded Ferguson's behaviour for nearly two years using their doorbell camera. The footage shows Ferguson hurling obscenities, including calling Amy a 'f*****g w***e', and making threats that escalated over time. In one instance, he threatened to petrol bomb their car, forcing the couple to barricade themselves inside their home.

Chris, 46, who suffers from mobility issues after a stroke, said he feared for his family's lives. 'When he was in the street, we couldn't sit outside without getting abused,' he told the BBC. 'It has been a massive weight off everybody's shoulders.'

Legal Battle and Eviction

After the couple reported Ferguson to the police, he was served with an antisocial behaviour order (ASBO), but he breached its terms seven times. The case went to court nearly 20 times, taking a toll on the family's mental health. Finally, South Lanarkshire Council confirmed Ferguson's eviction, with proceedings concluded at Lanark Sheriff Court on 23 February 2026.

A council spokesperson said: 'Eviction proceedings were concluded... and the tenancy was subsequently recovered. An anti-social behaviour order granted in relation to the former tenant remains in place.'

The couple, who had lived in Forth since 2016, described the area as 'absolutely brilliant' until Ferguson arrived. They now hope to rebuild their lives without fear.
