UK Adult Adoptees: Share Your Adoption Reunion Story
UK Adult Adoptees: Share Your Adoption Reunion Story

We invite UK adult adoptees to share their experiences of adoption reunion. A recent article by Guardian journalist David Batty highlighted the complex family trauma many adult adoptees navigate during reunion with their birth parents, often without professional support.

Share Your Adoption Reunion Experience

We want to hear from UK adult adoptees about how they managed their reunion with a birth parent. How challenging was it to build and maintain relationships with birth relatives? What support, if any, did you receive? How did the reunion affect your relationship with your adoptive family?

Please also let us know if your reunion was influenced by historical forced adoption. Between 1949 and 1976, approximately 185,000 babies were taken from unmarried mothers and placed for adoption in England and Wales due to societal shame surrounding pregnancy outside marriage.
