Gary Day-Davies

A depraved teacher abused a girl at school and his home after plying her with drugs and alcohol. Gary Day-Davies, 55, taught at a school in Salford where he attacked the girl, as well as at home after inviting her for extra tuition. He has now been jailed for 15 years after being found guilty following a trial at Liverpool Crown Court. Following the investigation into the non-recent abuse, Day-Davies claimed the victim must have held a grudge against him.

Curtis Rogerson

A driver who pepper sprayed two men after a row over a parking space in Lymm has been jailed. Curtis Rogerson, 45, left his victims with burning faces after launching the terrifying attack last Autumn. The men were in a van reversing into a parking space when Rogerson drove his car into it first. One man shouted his annoyance, prompting Rogerson to fly into a rage. He sprayed a substance through the open window, later identified as Capsaicinoids, typically found in pepper sprays. The men have since made a full recovery.

Emma Hurley

A woman groomed a vulnerable teenager before having sex with him. Emma Hurley, 44, was in a position of authority when she entered into a relationship with the boy, under 16, who has additional educational needs. Police went to his home to tell his parents about the relationship. The boy denied it, but days later was seen in her car when she was pulled over. In the car were cannabis, nitrous oxide canisters, a machete, and two small knives. The boy said he had been groomed by the defendant. Analysis of his phone revealed 775 calls with Hurley over two months and over 10,000 messages.

Freddie Shelley

A burglar who broke into a house but fled empty-handed on a bike has been jailed. Freddie Shelley forced entry to a house in Warrington but escaped with nothing and was later picked up on CCTV. He appeared at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court on Tuesday and was sentenced to 10 months in prison.

Taylor Smyth

A jilted lover ran over his ex during a failed attempt to win her back. Taylor Smyth reversed over his former partner while drunk and drove over her a second time as he drove away. The victim suffered multiple fractures and lost four teeth. She told Manchester Crown Court the incident had completely ruined her life. Smyth, a biological female who identifies as male, was jailed.

George Stables

A drug mule stopped at Manchester Airport told border force officers: I'm in a lot of trouble. George Stables arrived from Bangkok via Doha on February 1 this year. He was escorted to collect his two suitcases and asked if he had anything to declare. He replied no and said someone asked him to bring the cases. The suitcases contained 29 vacuum sealed packages of cannabis, total weight 33.95kg, with a wholesale value of £92,000 and street value of £290,000. Stables, of Harworth, Doncaster, was jailed for two years and three months.

Rhys Meikle

An online child sex abuse predator told police he was a paedophile hunter. Rhys Meikle, from Openshaw, Manchester, was operating as a prolific paedophile online before he was caught. That claim was a cover story in case he was ever caught. He distributed and traded the most abhorrent child sexual abuse material with other sex offenders. Police raided his home in May 2024 after intelligence that indecent images had been shared online. He was arrested and bailed but committed further offences while on bail. Meikle, 31, of no fixed address, was jailed for four years at Manchester Crown Court on Thursday after pleading guilty to arranging or facilitating a child sexual offence and making and distributing indecent images of children. He received an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and was placed on the sex offender register indefinitely.
