Emmerdale's Charity Dingle Reports Dr Todd to Police After Sexual Assault
Charity Reports Dr Todd to Police in Emmerdale

Emmerdale's Charity Dingle made the courageous decision to report her abuser, Dr Todd, to the police in powerful and moving scenes aired on Monday. The character had been subjected to a horrific sexual assault moments earlier by the former doctor, who had been blackmailing Charity over her baby lie.

Charity's Ordeal and Brave Choice

After getting drunk, Charity confronted Todd, who cruelly made her believe they had reached a truce. While Charity was passed out on the sofa, Todd took advantage of her, hurling insults before sexually assaulting her. Charity woke up, numb, as Todd smirked and left the room.

During Monday's episode, Charity was visibly distraught but put on a brave face as she joined her family and friends celebrating her granddaughter Sarah's birthday at the pub. She soon made her excuses and left, approaching Vanessa Woodfield's house where Todd is staying. Instead of entering, she went to the police station.

Reporting the Crime

A shaken Charity confirmed she was there to report a crime and was led into a room by a detective. As she relived the horrifying assault, she was told she would need to give full details, a statement, and undergo a full medical examination. The detective said they believed her and needed to gather evidence. They also revealed they would arrest and question Dr Todd, with charges to be determined later.

Returning home alone, Charity broke down in tears. Emotional viewers praised her bravery, with one fan saying: "Very glad #emmerdale went in the direction they did with Charity immediately going to the police." Another added: "Charity went to the police that was unexpected," while a third posted: "I did a little cheer when Charity went to the police station, and when they said they believed her."
