Channel 4 to Air 'Horrific' True Crime Doc as Taskmaster Replacement
Channel 4 Replaces Taskmaster with 'Horrific' True Crime Doc

Channel 4 is set to air a 'horrific' true crime documentary as the replacement for Taskmaster, which concludes its 21st season tonight. The network has confirmed that next week's Thursday night primetime slot will feature a repeat of the critically acclaimed episode 'The No Body Murder' from the series 24 Hours in Police Custody.

Taskmaster Finale Tonight

Taskmaster, hosted by Greg Davies and Alex Horne, airs its grand final this evening, June 11, 2026. Five celebrities remain in contention for the golden Taskmaster trophy: comedian Amy Gledhill, writer Armando Iannucci, actor Kumail Nanjiani, and Gavin and Stacey's Joanna Page. Presenter Joel Dommett, however, has been eliminated from winning due to insufficient points.

The finale promises bizarre challenges, including Amy Gledhill literally tearing her hair out, Armando Iannucci playing the recorder while riding a trike with a plunger on his head, Joel Dommett sniffing the contents of a vacuum, Kumail Nanjiani mistreating a beloved resident of the Taskmaster house, and Joanna Page laying waste to Little Alex Horne. The episode also features what is described as the greatest pillow fights of all time.

Replacement Series: 24 Hours in Police Custody

Following the conclusion of Taskmaster's 10-week run, Channel 4 will air a repeat of a popular episode from 24 Hours in Police Custody. Described as an 'eye-opening' true crime docu-series, the show follows the day-to-day operations of officers investigating major crimes, from initial arrest through to final charge.

The chosen episode, 'The No Body Murder', originally aired in 2021 and focuses on Cambridgeshire Police. The official description states: 'DCI Adam Gallop believes a man declared missing in 2015 has been murdered, but has so far been unable to locate his body. The more time passes, the less chance there is of new witnesses or forensic evidence turning up.' The investigation takes officers from an urgent excavation in the woods where the missing man is believed to have been shot to a journey across Europe in search of clues.

Fans have praised the episode on IMDb, with one calling it 'arguably the best true crime documentary ever seen.' Another described it as 'gripping, unpredictable, shocking. A fantastic insight into the police in Beds/Cambs. Unmissable TV.' A third remarked: 'Pure drama that challenges the perception of modern day police work and the modern day accused.'

24 Hours in Police Custody is available on Channel 4.
