An 18-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a 27-year-old woman in London following his extradition from the United Arab Emirates. Enzo Bettamio, of no fixed address, is accused of stabbing Kamonnan Thiamphanit at a property in Bayswater on 6 April 2024.
Police were called to her home in Stanhope Place at about 8.30am, where she was found with multiple stab wounds and pronounced dead at the scene. Thiamphanit, also known as Angela, had dual Chinese-Hong Kong and Thai nationality and worked in property management. She had lived in the UK for approximately nine years.
The Metropolitan Police successfully extradited Bettamio on a flight from Dubai to the UK on Friday, following joint inquiries with the Crown Prosecution Service’s extradition and international units. He was formally charged with murder on Saturday and appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where he only confirmed his name and date of birth. He was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday; no plea was entered.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, leading the investigation, expressed gratitude to Thiamphanit’s family and friends for their patience and support. The family continues to be supported by specialist officers.
