Disturbing CCTV footage has emerged showing a violent street brawl in Stoke-on-Trent, where a wheelie bin was wielded as a weapon during a brutal confrontation. The incident, which occurred in broad daylight, involved a group of men exchanging numerous punches and resulted in one man being stabbed in the shoulder.
Violent Confrontation Captured on Camera
The distressing video reveals the chaotic scene as violence erupted amongst the men, with one attacker notably using a wheelie bin to assault others. However, the camera did not capture the moment when Kahif Ahmed was knifed in the shoulder during the altercation. Other individuals involved in the brawl included Naveed Hussain, Bilal Ahmed, and Ali Abbas.
Retaliatory Arson Attack Hours Later
Tragically, this violent confrontation on December 16, 2021, sparked a retaliatory assault just seven hours later. At 10.55pm that evening, a gang descended upon a property on Beverley Drive in Bentilee, demanding to speak with Naveed Hussain. They smashed ground-floor windows before dousing the entrance hallway with petrol near the front door and outside close to the lounge window.
A 31-year-old woman was struck on the head before being set alight, sustaining burns covering 65 per cent of her body. Initially not expected to survive, she miraculously pulled through but remained in a coma for two months. She now lives with life-altering injuries that require ongoing medical care.
A 13-year-old girl also suffered burns to 15 per cent of her body, affecting her right arm and right leg. In a desperate bid to escape, both victims smashed through an upstairs bedroom window and leapt out. The woman sustained a fractured pelvis, broken ribs, and a ruptured liver, and had to relearn how to walk. Both were rushed to Birmingham hospitals for emergency treatment.
Legal Proceedings and Convictions
Following an 11-week trial, four other men were convicted of offences related to the devastating blaze. Before proceedings began, Ali Abbas, 22, of Normacot, and Haris Mahmood, 21, of Normacot, both pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life.
Separately, ahead of the trial, Naveed Hussain, 32, of Longton, pleaded guilty to violent disorder and possession of a knife blade or sharp pointed article in a public place in December 2025. Kashif Ahmed, 25, of Stoke-on-Trent, and Bilal Ahmed, 26, of Normacot, along with Ali Abbas, admitted to violent disorder.
All of the men have been remanded in custody and are awaiting sentencing at a date, time, and location yet to be confirmed. The case highlights the severe consequences of street violence and the tragic chain of events that can follow such altercations.
