Firefighters tackled a blaze in the grounds of Jesmond Dene House on Saturday morning, June 13. The Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service received a 999 call at 7.30am and dispatched multiple crews to an area off Jesmond Dene Road.
Emergency Response
Six fire appliances and an aerial ladder platform were sent to the scene. Northumbria Police and North East Ambulance Service also attended to support the fire service. Smoke was seen rising from a building within the hotel grounds.
The last fire engine left the area around 12.12pm, although officers planned to return later for safety inspections.
Ambulance Service Statement
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a fire in the grounds of Jesmond Dene House shortly before 8am on 13 June. We initially dispatched a double crewed ambulance, a duty officer and two vehicles from our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART). Some of our resources have since been stood down and one HART vehicle and a duty officer remain at the scene should the fire service need our support.”
Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service directed further enquiries to the police. Northumbria Police has yet to issue any further information about the incident.
