Two Men Charged After Police Intercept Alleged 'Kill Car' Loaded with Weapons in Sydney

Two 22-year-old men have been formally charged following a dramatic police operation that intercepted an alleged 'kill car' filled with dangerous weapons, cable ties, and cans of fuel before an alleged violent crime could occur. The incident unfolded across western Sydney, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat organised criminal activity in the region.

Early Morning Home Invasion Sparks Investigation

Police were initially called to Karangi Road in the Whalan suburb at approximately 2:40 am on Wednesday following reports of a home invasion. According to authorities, four men forcibly entered a property using a hammer and a firearm. The intruders fled the scene in a black Mercedes SUV before officers arrived, and fortunately, no injuries were reported during the break-in.

Strike Force Operation Leads to Vehicle Interception

About twelve hours later, detectives from Strike Force Duncan observed two men transferring items from a black Mercedes SUV into a Hyundai hatchback within a garage on Lissanthe Street in Marsden Park. The hatchback subsequently drove away but was swiftly stopped by police on Richmond Road, with heavily-armed Raptor Squad members assisting in the operation.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered a cache of alarming items, including:

  • A pump-action shotgun
  • Ammunition
  • Jerry cans filled with fuel
  • Three sledgehammers
  • Four baseball bats
  • Duct tape and cable ties
  • Pillowcases

Arrests and Charges Filed

The two men, aged 22 and from the suburbs of Blackett and Coyton, were immediately arrested and each charged with four serious offences. The charges include:

  1. Possessing an unauthorised firearm
  2. Possessing an unregistered firearm (not a pistol or prohibited firearm)
  3. Possessing ammunition without holding a licence, permit, or authority
  4. Using, supplying, acquiring, or possessing a defaced firearm

Both individuals have been refused bail and are scheduled to appear at Mount Druitt Local Court on Thursday. Police also executed a search warrant at the Lissanthe Street residence, where they allegedly seized the black Mercedes SUV connected to the earlier home invasion.

Taskforce Falcon Thwarts Alleged Violent Plot

In a media statement, authorities confirmed that Taskforce Falcon detectives successfully thwarted an alleged violent crime by intercepting the so-called 'kill car'. This specialised unit was established in May last year specifically to suppress rising gangland conflict across Sydney, and investigations remain ongoing as part of their broader mission.

Police are urging anyone with information related to organised criminal activity to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously to assist with the continuing investigation.
