Police Update After Bomb Squad Called to Fallowfield Homes
Police Update on Fallowfield Bomb Squad Incident

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have issued an update following an incident in Fallowfield where two suspicious items prompted a bomb squad response and evacuations last week.

Incident Details

On Saturday, June 6, at approximately 6pm, GMP received reports of two items discarded in the front yard of a property on Abram Close, Fallowfield. Officers conducted a search of the premises and discovered additional items of concern. As a precaution, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called in, leading to the evacuation of nearby residents.

Arrest and Investigation

In a statement released on Tuesday, GMP confirmed that a man has been arrested on suspicion of offences under Section 4 of the Explosives Act. Residents have since been permitted to return to their homes.

Detective Chief Inspector Claire Brennan, from the Major Investigation Team, stated: “We have a man in custody, and our investigation is progressing at pace. These incidents are currently being treated as isolated. We do not believe there is a wider threat to the community and would like to thank residents for their patience and support.”

Ongoing Police Presence

Brennan added: “There will be continued police activity at the address as enquiries remain ongoing, and we encourage anyone with information to speak to officers at the scene. We will have an enhanced neighbouring patrol within the area over the next few days to provide reassurance.”

GMP have urged anyone with information to contact officers at the scene or via the police non-emergency number.
