North Wales Police has dismissed an officer after he engaged in a practice known as 'key-jamming'. Following an accelerated misconduct hearing held at North Wales Police Headquarters on Friday, PC Robert Masson was dismissed without notice. His conduct was found to amount to gross misconduct, as reported by North Wales Live.
Misconduct Hearing Details
The hearing, chaired by Chief Constable Amanda Blakeman KPM, heard that PC Masson repeatedly engaged in 'key-jamming', a practice where a keyboard key is deliberately held down to ensure a computer appears active. This created a misleading impression that he was working and available over extended periods when he was not.
Police Response
Following the hearing, Deputy Chief Constable Nigel Harrison stated: "Police officers are rightly held to the highest standards of honesty and integrity. Where those standards are not met, we will take robust action. The public must have confidence that officers carry out their duties with professionalism at all times. In this case, the conduct fell short of those expectations, and dismissal was the appropriate outcome."
This incident underscores the importance of maintaining trust and accountability within law enforcement. The force's swift action reflects a commitment to upholding professional standards.
