Marc Cucurella has insisted he is ‘very happy’ at Chelsea but has not ruled out a summer exit amid interest from Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Manchester United. The left-back is currently with the Spain squad ahead of their World Cup opener against Cape Verde on Monday, but the subject of his club future has become a hot topic back home.
Chelsea's Difficult Season
Chelsea endured a dismal 2025-26 campaign, finishing 10th in the Premier League with no European football on offer next term. While the appointment of Xabi Alonso offers hope for the coming season, Cucurella is said to be open to a fresh challenge after three years at Stamford Bridge.
Interest from Europe's Elite
Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are both keen on signing the Spaniard this summer, with Manchester United emerging as another possible destination. The Premier League giants are eager to bolster their left-back options as they look for a long-term successor to Luke Shaw.
When quizzed on the growing interest in his services, Cucurella was reluctant to be drawn on his club future before admitting he and his family feel settled in London. ‘Right now I don’t want to talk about that,’ Cucurella told El Partidazo de COPE. ‘It’s true that I’m very happy where I am, I’m very happy, my family is very happy.’
He added: ‘Whatever you do, don’t drive me crazy. I don’t like to be burdened with worries. I already have enough with what I have, with my family, without adding more worries.’
Chelsea's Stance
While Cucurella is a first-team regular in west London, reports suggest Chelsea could let him go. The Blues reportedly accept it is in the best interests of all parties for Cucurella to leave in the upcoming transfer window but would demand a fee of between €40 and €50 million.
Although Cucurella is dreaming of a move to the Nou Camp, Barcelona currently have other priorities as they search for a top striker to replace Robert Lewandowski. Barca have previously been linked with Chelsea’s Joao Pedro, but the Blues are expected to rebuff any approaches for the Brazil international.
