Tonali's Agent Fuels Transfer Talk, Names Arsenal and Man City as Future Goals
Tonali Agent Names Arsenal and Man City in Transfer Admission

Sandro Tonali's Agent Sparks Transfer Frenzy with Arsenal and Man City Comments

The agent of Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali has ignited fresh transfer speculation by openly discussing his client's future, namechecking Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester City as potential destinations. Giuseppe Riso's remarks have reportedly frustrated officials at Newcastle, where Tonali is under contract until at least 2028, with options for an improved deal.

Agent Riso's Controversial Admission

In an interview with Italian publication Calcio and Finanza, Riso implied that Newcastle served as a stepping stone for Tonali to reach a higher-level club. "The deal came about because a club like Newcastle with unlimited financial resources had decided to invest in Sandro," Riso stated. "We considered the idea of having the player play in a higher-level league."

When questioned about a potential departure to Arsenal or Manchester City, Riso added: "Exactly, that was the goal from the moment he went to England – to try to make him a star player. I think he's the Italian footballer with one of the highest values in the world."

World Cup Impact and Future Scenarios

Riso highlighted the upcoming World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico as a pivotal moment for Tonali's career. "If he shines at the World Cup, will City or Arsenal be hot on his heels? I don't know...but it's very likely," he said. "Everyone is waiting for the World Cup; then a thousand scenarios will unfold, but it all kicks off after the World Cup."

However, Italy must first secure qualification through a play-off against Northern Ireland, followed by a match against either Wales or Bosnia and Herzegovina, to reach the finals.

Newcastle's Stance and Manager's Response

Despite the ongoing rumours, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has remained steadfast in his support for Tonali. Speaking last month, Howe emphasized the player's commitment to the club. "As far as I'm aware, we've got a player that's an outstanding footballer, an outstanding person," Howe said. "He's very happy here, he's got a great relationship with me, his team-mates, he seems really, really happy within himself, so that would surprise me."

Howe acknowledged the reality of top clubs showing interest but stressed the importance of keeping the squad together. "But our best players will always be attracting glances from other clubs, that's just the reality of football. We want to keep the group together, we want to keep being progressive and, of course, Sandro plays a part in that, trying to hit his best levels and play as well as he can to help the team."

While Arsenal sources have confirmed Tonali is not currently on their radar, Manchester City and Manchester United continue to be linked with the midfielder, adding to the ongoing transfer saga.
