Heaven's Candid Remarks on Managerial Preferences
During an appearance on Capital XTRA Breakfast on Friday morning, Heaven was questioned about his perspective on who should lead Manchester United moving forward. The defender responded with a pragmatic stance, stating, "I don't mind, honestly. I'm just waiting to see, you know. Just whatever's going to get us over the line." He emphasised that his primary concern is achieving success on the pitch, regardless of who occupies the managerial role.
Under Carrick's temporary leadership, United have secured six victories in eight matches, propelling them into the Premier League's top three positions. However, uncertainty lingers over whether Carrick will be retained beyond the summer or if the club will appoint a permanent replacement.
Heaven's Limited Playing Time Under Carrick
Since Carrick assumed control, Heaven has seen minimal action, featuring for just seven minutes across three fixtures. He made brief substitute appearances in the 2-0 victory over Manchester City and the wins against Everton and Crystal Palace. Carragher elaborated, "For Emery not to be under serious consideration says plenty about modern football. By any metric, he would be the perfect coach to revive United. For me, only Pep Guardiola ranks higher of those currently managing in England." He praised Emery's proven success in the Premier League and his leadership qualities, suggesting that such coaches are in short supply.
