Usyk Revives Promotional Venture to Cultivate Boxing Talent
Unified heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk has officially relaunched his boxing promotional company, with a clear mission to scout and develop the next generation of Ukrainian boxing stars. The fighter, who is anticipated to announce his next professional bout imminently, will be dedicating significant time and resources to this new business endeavour alongside his athletic career.
Company Reboot After Hiatus Due to Conflict
Originally established in 2020, Usyk17 promotions was forced into a temporary suspension following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The relaunch marks a strategic return to the promotional landscape, with Usyk emphasising a philosophy centred on long-term athlete development rather than immediate commercial success.
"Champions are formed long before titles," Usyk stated. "The path matters more than quick success. My incredible team and I have done tremendous work and gained invaluable experience on the road to my championship belts. And we are ready to share it with the new generation of athletes."
Major Kyiv Tournament Planned for Spring
The company's first major initiative will be a substantial boxing tournament scheduled for this spring in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. Specific details regarding the exact date, venue, and fight card are to be announced at a later stage.
"This event will exclusively feature young, promising boxers from Ukraine and beyond," Usyk confirmed. "We are dedicated to helping these athletes achieve their goals and will do everything in our power to foster the growth of new champions in our country."
Sergey Lapin, head of Team Usyk, reinforced this narrative-driven approach, noting, "We don’t just make fights – we tell stories."
Usyk's Fighting Future and Promotional Vision
Usyk has been absent from the ring since his knockout victory over Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium in the summer of 2025. He subsequently vacated his WBO world title, opting not to face mandatory challenger Fabio Wardley. Speculation continues to link him with a potential high-profile crossover bout against kickboxing icon Rico Verhoeven.
Nevertheless, the champion's focus now extends beyond his own career, as he seeks to build a sustainable platform for emerging talent. This dual commitment to competition and promotion underscores a broader ambition to strengthen Ukraine's presence in global boxing through systematic talent identification and mentorship.
