Formula 1 is back after the enforced spring break, with the Miami Grand Prix taking centre stage this weekend. The race marks the second sprint event of the 2026 season. Following the cancellation of races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia due to the ongoing Gulf conflict, F1 was absent throughout April. However, behind the scenes, teams have been working tirelessly to close the gap on Mercedes. Additionally, F1 and the FIA have agreed on a set of tweaks to the controversial 2026 regulations, which will debut in Miami.
Last Race Recap: Japan Grand Prix
Kimi Antonelli claimed victory in the last race in Japan, benefiting from a well-timed safety car. The 19-year-old Italian now leads the World Championship by nine points over his Mercedes teammate George Russell, who finished a frustrated fourth at Suzuka. Reigning world champions McLaren returned to the podium with Oscar Piastri's second-place finish, while Charles Leclerc secured third for Ferrari. After the race, four-time world champion Max Verstappen revealed he is considering quitting the sport at the end of the season.
