The brother of Deputy Liberal Democrat Leader Daisy Cooper returned from a holiday to discover a chilling scene that would unsettle any homeowner - a complete stranger had been living in his London property and sleeping in his bed.
The shocking incident occurred while the MP's brother was abroad, leaving his home vulnerable to an opportunistic intruder. Upon his return, he found clear evidence that someone had been occupying his space without permission.
'Utterly Horrifying' Discovery
"He came back to find a woman had been sleeping in his bed," revealed Daisy Cooper during an appearance on Channel 4's Jamie & Spencer's Joy Ride. "He was utterly horrified."
The MP for St Albans shared the disturbing details of how her brother found proof that the unknown woman had been using his home as her own personal accommodation for several days.
Evidence of Unwanted Occupation
Signs of the intrusion were immediately apparent. The homeowner discovered empty food containers scattered throughout the property and clear indications that someone had been sleeping in his bedroom.
"There were pots and pans that had been used, and food that had been eaten," Cooper explained, painting a picture of the violation her brother experienced.
Police Investigation Launched
The Metropolitan Police confirmed they are treating the incident as a burglary and have launched a full investigation. A spokesperson stated that officers are working to identify the woman responsible for the unlawful entry.
This alarming case highlights the vulnerability of properties left empty during holidays and serves as a warning to homeowners about securing their premises when travelling abroad.
