Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks to Host Pride of Britain Red Carpet Again

Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks have confirmed they will be returning to host the red carpet at the Pride of Britain Awards for the third consecutive year. The duo appeared on Wednesday's edition of Good Morning Britain alongside Ranvir Singh, Tom Swarbrick, and entertainment editor Richard Arnold to discuss their upcoming role.

A Celebration of Unsung Heroes

Since its inception in 1999, the Pride of Britain Awards has been dedicated to honouring the nation's unsung heroes. The ceremony recognises individuals from across the UK in categories such as Special Recognition, King's Trust Young Achiever, Good Morning Britain Young Fundraiser, and Child of Courage. Hosted by Carol Vorderman and Ashley Banjo, the event takes place at Grosvenor House in London towards the end of the year.

Excitement for the Upcoming Event

During the interview, Richard Arnold remarked on the pair's established presence on the red carpet, calling it their own. Pete Wicks responded enthusiastically, stating, "Sam and I are really blessed to go to loads of different events but we say Pride of Britain is the best event of the year. We mean it." He added that this will be his twelfth Pride of Britain, describing it as "the best night ever." Sam Thompson echoed the sentiment, highlighting the opportunity to meet nominees and winners as a highlight.

The duo also hinted at a possible jet pack entrance this year, following their tandem bike arrival last year, which was hampered by rain. Sam joked about the bike's malfunction, while Pete quipped, "It didn't work last year because it was raining so much, we could have come on a boat. Who knows! Jet packing?"

Memorable Moments and Expectations

Richard Arnold noted that the Pride of Britain season signals the approach of the festive period, while Ranvir Singh described the event as "a humbling night" that puts life into perspective. Sam Thompson added that the nominees often seem stunned by the attention, underscoring their humility. The ceremony is expected to take place in October, though the exact date has yet to be announced. Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6:00am on ITV.
