Molly-Mae Hague has addressed the backlash over the outfit she wore to her niece Venezuela Fury's wedding, admitting she was left 'severely humbled' by the reaction. The heavily pregnant influencer, 27, faced criticism after attending the family wedding in the Isle of Man wearing a black semi-sheer ensemble, with some questioning the colour and style choice for the occasion.
Speaking in a new YouTube vlog, Molly-Mae explained that attending the wedding was uncertain given she is now 39 weeks pregnant. However, she was determined to support fiancé Tommy Fury's family and their daughter Bambi, three, who was one of 18 bridesmaids. 'I was what can only be described as Bambi's chaperone for the wedding,' she said. 'There was not one part of me that thought about what I was going to look like.'
Molly-Mae admitted she was caught off guard by the criticism, revealing she hadn't realised wearing black to a wedding was considered controversial. 'Since when was it not acceptable to wear black to a wedding? Because I never thought that,' she said. Reflecting on the reaction, she added: 'I had a bit of a spiral this morning. I don't know why I didn't think about the pictures and videos coming out.'
Despite the online commentary, Molly-Mae said attending was worth it for Bambi. 'I'm so, so glad that we went. It was such a nice day. I don't think Bambi will ever get over it. I think she thought she was in a dream.' Tommy Fury did not attend the wedding, reportedly missing the celebrations due to boxing training ahead of his bout with Eddie Hall on June 13.
Before the ceremony, Tommy's sister-in-law Paris Fury praised Molly-Mae for making the journey while heavily pregnant. 'She is incredible. She is being fully supportive, and she is bringing Bambi over, so that Bambi could be a bridesmaid,' Paris said. After the ceremony, Molly-Mae and Bambi made a swift exit, travelling home by private jet, with the chartered flight estimated to have cost £15,000.
