A bride-to-be's love for crispy pizza nearly derailed her dream wedding when her front tooth fell out after biting into a slice just days before the big day. Katrina Kelly, 32, had been planning her wedding in Malta for two-and-a-half years and is due to marry on May 23.
Katrina asked her fiancé, John Grevine, to bake her Co-op Salami and Calabrese pizza longer than directed because she prefers it crispy. However, upon biting into the pizza, she felt the veneer on her right front tooth detach. The dance teacher, from Southampton, Hampshire, was in denial, having had the veneer for 12 years without issues.
The couple spent £60 to have the veneer reattached the next day, adding to the wedding expenses. Katrina said: 'I was bragging to all my friends about how organised I was, and that I don't understand what the stress is over a wedding. What can go wrong now? My fiancé asked if I wanted it extra crispy, and I said yes. I bit into the pizza and knew straight away what had happened.'
Despite trying to reattach the tooth herself, Katrina eventually visited a dentist. The veneer, originally applied after she was hit by a door 12 years ago, was successfully glued back on. Katrina expressed relief: 'They managed to glue the veneer back on, and I have my teeth back. It went great. I'm so relieved.'
The wedding will host 230 guests flying to Malta, and the couple has been saving for two-and-a-half years. The Co-op has been contacted for comment.
