Marc Guehi Warns Man City Treble Hopes: 'Don't Know Football'

Marc Guehi has proven to be an excellent signing for Manchester City, but the January arrival is keeping his feet firmly on the ground amid talk of a historic Treble. The England defender insists there is no discussion of winning three trophies within the squad, and he has issued a stern warning to those who believe Pep Guardiola's men will cruise to another league title.

Guehi Dismisses Treble Talk

City have overtaken title rivals Arsenal at the top of the table for the first time since August, following a narrow 1-0 victory at Burnley. Many expected a landslide win to relegate the Clarets and boost goal difference, but City relied on a single goal from Erling Haaland to overcome a spirited Burnley side.

Guardiola's team now faces Southampton in Saturday's FA Cup semi-final, keeping alive hopes of a hat-trick of trophies this season. However, Guehi revealed the subject has not even been mentioned within the squad.

When asked about the team's chances of adding two more trophies to the Carabao Cup triumph, Guehi said: "That's what you guys are talking about. We just focus on one game at a time, that's the most important thing. It's Southampton next and it's important that we focus on that - and see if we can get to another final."

Easy Games? 'Don't Know Football'

The defender also took aim at those who expect City to win every match comfortably, particularly after the hard-fought win against Burnley. "Everyone thinks these games are easy, when a lot of emotion and focus went into the last game against Arsenal. When you're playing a team that's fighting for their lives, it's not going to be easy," he explained.

"Whoever thought it was going to be easy clearly doesn't know football. I'm glad everyone did their jobs and dug in. The most important thing was just to get the win."

Focus on Themselves, Not Arsenal

Guehi acknowledges it is a good feeling to be back on top of the table, but he is not getting carried away. Arsenal will play two league games before City resume their title charge, but Guehi insists the team must focus solely on themselves.

"I'm not thinking too much about being top, to be honest. It's good, it's where we want to be, but there's still such a long way to go. It's nice for now, but there's still a lot to play for," he added.

"Our priority is just to focus on ourselves. We played the game against Arsenal and were able to control that game - and now it's up to us to do the best in the games that we have left."
