In a dramatic and covert operation that has sparked widespread condemnation, Israeli forces disguised as medical staff and civilians stormed a hospital in the occupied West Bank, killing three Palestinians.
The early morning raid targeted the Ibn Sina Hospital in the city of Jenin. CCTV footage from inside the hospital shows a group of armed, undercover operatives—some in civilian clothing and others wearing fake medical scrubs—moving calmly through the corridors with rifles drawn.
'A planned assassination'
The Israeli military confirmed the operation, stating its forces killed three men who were allegedly part of a Hamas cell. It claimed the group was using the hospital as a hideout and was planning an attack inspired by the October 7th Hamas assault on Israel.
Palestinian health officials have decried the incursion as a blatant violation of international law, which grants hospitals protected status. The Palestinian health minister stated that the special forces ‘executed the three men in cold blood’ while they were sleeping in a room, labelling it a ‘war crime’.
The targets and the tension
One of the men killed was identified as Mohammed Jalamneh, 27, whom the IDF accused of planning imminent attacks and facilitating arms transfers for Hamas. Another was his brother, Basil Al-Ghazawi, and the third was Mohammed Al-Ghazawi, both of whom were reportedly wounded and receiving long-term treatment at the facility.
The raid has significantly heightened tensions in the already volatile Jenin region, a known stronghold of Palestinian militant groups. This incident is expected to further inflame the situation in the West Bank, which has seen a sharp increase in violence since the start of the war in Gaza.
