The Royal Albert Hall in London was abuzz with glamour on Sunday evening as the Olivier Awards celebrated its 50th anniversary, with Elizabeth Hurley, Rachel Zegler, and Cate Blanchett heading the star arrivals. This prestigious event, the UK's biggest night for theatre awards, saw a dazzling display of talent and style, marking a milestone year for the ceremony.
Star-Studded Red Carpet Moments
Elizabeth Hurley made a stunning entrance accompanied by her boyfriend, Billy Ray Cyrus, and her son, Damian. She captivated onlookers in a plunging white dress with elegant wrap details, complemented by silver jewellery and glamorous makeup, with her brunette hair styled in a bouncy, blown-out look.
Rachel Zegler, nominated for Best Actress in a Musical for her role in Evita at The London Palladium, looked amazing in a strapless black dress adorned with gold chains. Her black locks were worn loose, paired with dramatic makeup that highlighted her nomination spotlight.
Cate Blanchett, in contention for Best Actress for The Seagull at the Barbican Theatre, also graced the ceremony, adding to the evening's star power with her poised presence.
Ceremony Highlights and Nominations
The star-studded ceremony was hosted by actor, comedian, and The Traitors star Nick Mohammed, broadcast from 7pm on the BBC. In terms of nominations, two musicals led the pack with 11 nods each: Into the Woods and Paddington The Musical. The most nominated plays were All My Sons, Kenrex, and Stereophonic, each receiving six nominations.
Best Actress nominations featured Cate Blanchett, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Julia McDermott, Rosamund Pike, and Rosie Sheehy, while Best Actor nominees included Bryan Cranston, Sean Hayes, Tom Hiddleston, Jack Holden, and David Shields.
Dame Elaine Paige was honoured with this year's Special Award. Kash Bennett, president of the Society of London Theatre, stated, 'As we celebrate 50 years of the Olivier Awards, it is especially fitting to honour a performer whose artistry, dedication and generosity have inspired generations of audiences and artists alike.'
